Slow Life
Give your life a new rhythm
The idea of a “Slow Life” is becoming more and more popular today. The concept continues to convince people who are concerned about their well-being.
Indeed, reconsidering one’s priorities and refocusing on the essentials has never been more sought after. This way of viewing daily life comes in many forms that apply to every aspect of our days.
The Slow Attitude
Dare to slow down, take the time to appreciate every moment
The slow attitude is about approaching the different aspects of your daily life in a simplified way. The goal? A return to the essentials.
But why? Today, we no longer take the time to savor, we no longer know how to wait without looking at our smartphone, we buy without thinking, and we eat mechanically.
The goal is to give importance back to those moments in life that animate our days, like playing with our children. It’s a new way of life that emphasizes the benefits of slowness.
In a world marked by speed and efficiency, taking your time and being lazy is often seen as negative, when in fact there’s nothing better for recharging and being productive when you need to be.
“The quality of life is always proportional to the capacity to savor it. The capacity to savor it is directly linked to the ability to pay attention.” Julia Cameron
Slow Food
The art of eating well, re(learning) to savor
The Slow Food movement was born in the 1980s. It was a group of friends, led by Carlo Petrini, who were at the origin of this philosophy. These lovers of good things expressed their attachment to good products and to the time it takes to have a meal. This way of viewing daily life has been adopted in many forms, such as slow travel.
That’s all well and good, but what does it consist of?
Do you picture a fast food meal swallowed in two minutes? Well, slow food is the exact opposite. It’s about giving importance to the food that makes up your meal, to its origin, its quality, and the way it’s cooked—it’s about trusting local producers.
Next, you need a pleasant place to enjoy it, an adequate spot to savor good little dishes cooked with love, with family, friends, or alone.
The final touch is simply “taking the time” to eat.
Slow Travel
Travel slowly, enjoy every moment
The idea of slow travel, that is, traveling slowly, refers to the slow life movement that invites people to slow down their pace of life in a world where everything is always going faster and faster.
The goal is to favor a return to basics and to prefer simplicity over complexity.
Slow travel consists of giving yourself the time needed to enjoy your stay.
It’s about giving yourself the opportunity to soak in the places you travel and to meet locals. It’s also about choosing your activities based on their quality and not their quantity.
This vision of things encourages you to be more eco-responsible and sensitive to your environment.
This involves using less polluting means of transport that are favorable to the local economy, such as cycling or public transport.
